Early exit in Grassy Smith Memorial with Mid-East Super Late Model

Starting off his Fourth of July weekend, Benji Hicks checked into Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Wednesday afternoon for the $10,000-to-win Grassy Smith Memorial.

Among 27 Mid-East Super Late Models, Hicks made up two spots in his heat race to start ninth in the 40-lap feature. Suffering a wreck early on, Benji did not finish and wound up 20th in the running order.
