Wil Herrington pilots Joe Denby No. 27 at Volunteer Speedway

Making a start behind the wheel of a Joe Denby-owned No. 27, Wil Herrington checked into Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) for the first night of the unsanctioned-Volunteer 50 weekend.

Laying down the quickest lap in his qualifying, Herrington started his 25-lap preliminary feature from the pole, but faded to finish outside the Top-5 in seventh.

Locked into Saturday's $50,050-to-win showdown, Wil started 14th and finished 22nd after 50 laps.
