SRL To Return To The Acres For The First Time Since 2016

The long-anticipated return of the Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series to Redwood Acres Raceway is on the horizon with the west coast’s premiere super late model touring series set to visit on Saturday July 27.

This year’s event will mark the fourth time that the series has raced at RAR and the first since 2016. The SRL debuted at the Acres in 2013. Three time series champion Jim Pettit, II dominated the inaugural event taking the victory over Ross Strmiska, Jacob Gomes, Bobby Hodges and local favorite, Brandon White.

The series returned to the Acres in 2015 and that race featured a memorable multi-car wreck that occurred in the early stages in the race which collected Tracy Bolin, Brandon White, Greg Voigt and Ryan Cansdale. Pettit was the winner once again but this victory came under more intense circumstances. Parker Stephens made a spectacular late-race run but fell just short to Pettit at the checkered flag. Blaine Rocha, Bobby Hodges and Craig Raudman rounded out the top five.

The most recent race in 2016 was a caution-filled event that was cut short from its scheduled distance due to curfew. Derek Thorn won over Jacob Gomes, Blaine Rocha, Ryan Cansdale and Keith Spangler. The SRL was scheduled to return to RAR in 2022 but area fires forced the cancellation of that event in August of that year.

Tickets for the July 27 race featuring the Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series, Spears Modified Series and NorCal Legend Series are currently available on RacinTheAcres.com. More information can be found on Redwood Acres Raceway’s Facebook page.

Thank you to Harper Motors, Mid-City Motor World, Big Valley Sanitation and JM Environmental, Inc. for their support in presenting this event!
