Cade Dillard kicks off World of Outlaws road trip with runner-up finish at Thunderhill
Starting off a long road trip with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series, Cade Dillard was one of 24 Late Models at Thunderhill Raceway (Summertown, Tenn.) on Thursday afternoon.
Stopping the clock third-quickest, Dillard won his heat race and redrew the No. 3 starting position in the 40-lap main event. With $15,000 on the line, Cade battled inside the Top-3 and led laps 13-38 before giving up the lead to Brandon Sheppard with just two laps to go. Dillard settled for a runner-up outing while Brent Larson completed the podium.
At Ponderosa Speedway (Junction City, Ky.) on Friday, Dillard picked up another heat race victory and redrew the No. 4 starting position for the $15,000-to-win feature. After 50 laps, Cade wound up in 10th.
Wrapping up the weekend at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway on Saturday, Cade charged from fourth-to-fifth in his heat race and once again got unlucky in the redraw by pulling the fourth-position. Starting from the second-row, Dillard spun around with another competitor in the opening laps and only recovered to finish 13th.
Dillard is currently third in the series point standings.
