Tim Ward banks $10,000 Clash at the Creek opener in Wisconsin

Tim Ward got an early start to his race week with a trip to the Badger State on Tuesday to pilot his Precision Performance Racing Suspension No. 4TW Modified for the 16th annual Clash at the Creek.

With 79 IMCA Modifieds entered at 141 Speedway (Maribel, Wis.) for the first round of the two-day event, Ward vaulted into the opener with a fourth-to-first heat showing. Remaining patient in his path to the front, Tim wrestled away the lead from pole-starting Jake McBirnie on lap 28 and paced the remainder of the 50-lapper to capture his 99th career Modified victory and the $10,000 winner’s payday. His eighth win of the 2024 campaign came ahead of Benji LaCrosse, Dylan Thornton, Jordan Grabouski, and Joel Rust.

“This is such a tough place to win,” Ward said in victory lane. “I was one of the favorites here last year, started 13th, got up to sixth and just ran out of time,” he said. “This time I had a really good race with Jake (McBirnie) the first half. It reminded me of Super Nationals – we raced really hard.”

Back at the 1/3-mile oval on Wednesday, Tim failed to acquire enough passing points in his heat race but a sixth-to-second B-Main showing locked his spot into the Clash at the Creek finale. Gunning for another $10,000 payday, Ward muscled forward two spots to finish 12th.

Ward capped off his weekend with a pair of podium finishes at Beaver Dam Raceway (Beaver Dam, Wis.) on Friday and Saturday. Following a ninth-to-second show in Friday’s feature, Tim took the green in ninth for Saturday’s $2,500-to-win A-Main and raced up to third in the 25-lap affair.
