Tifft continues season at Lernerville and Wayne County
Matt Tifft entered his GUNK No. 57 Super Late Model in a weekly show at Sarver, Pennsylvania’s Lernerville Speedway on Friday evening and came away with a top-15 finish. He then ran into trouble the following night at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, but still turned in a solid result.
On Friday, with 23 Super Late Models at the 4/10-mile Lernerville Speedway, Tifft opened the evening with an eighth-place result in one of three heat races after suffering a DNF. However, he used a third-place finish in the B-Main to move on to the night’s 25-lap, $2,000-to-win feature. Tifft started shotgun on the field and climbed six positions to come home 15th.
The next night, Tifft traveled to the 3/8-mile Wayne County Speedway for the 21-car King of the County Super Late Model program. He clocked the second-quickest time in qualifying and nabbed a third-place result in his heat. Tifft started eighth in the 25-lap feature and quickly moved forward, but made contact with other cars and the wall while passing for fifth and received significant damage. Despite the challenges, he mustered an 11th-place finish.
