2024 Season At Redwood Acres Raceway Kicks Off Saturday

It has been a longer off-season than expected for fans and drivers of racing at Redwood Acres Raceway but thankfully the 2024 will start this Saturday at Eureka’s 3/8-mile paved oval. Mid-City Motor World will be presenting a full night of racing with local late models, Legends and mini stocks taking the track. In addition, local bomber drivers will be going against some of the top racers in the region as the Upstate Bomber Series will be in action while the Upstate Modified Series should have a strong field of contenders Saturday night as well.

The delay of getting the racing season started at the Acres is in part due to new leadership of the raceway. David Furia has taken over duties as promoter of Redwood Acres Raceway for 2024 and beyond. Furia has a long history in racing both as a driver as well as a promoter at Ukiah Speedway for many years.

Defending champions at Redwood Acres Raceway include Brandon Barnwell in the late models, Tyler Krupa in the Legends, Doug Way in the bombers and Gary Klinetobe in the mini stocks.

While Saturday’s race will be the first for most local drivers, others have already got a head start specifically in the bombers. Jordan Krupa and Kadence Toland participated in the Upstate Bomber Series’ opener at Ukiah Speedway on May 25. Krupa placed third in the feature while Toland finished seventh. Terry Pittman from Redwood Valley currently leads the series standings by 16 over Bob Mook of Santa Rosa while Krupa is third and 18 behind Pittman.

Saturday will also be the second race of the season for the Upstate Modified Series. Lakeport’s Sierra Furia took the hard-fought victory that night and holds a 10-point lead over Nice’s Trystan Mucci. Sal Martinez of Kelseyville is third, an additional 10 markers behind Mucci.

Tickets for Saturday’s race are $10 and can be purchased at the front gate on race day. Grandstands open at 4:00 while racing begins at 5:00. An open practice is scheduled for Friday from 5:00 to dark.
