Podium finish with Malvern Bank East Series at Maquoketa Speedway
Kicking off a week-long stretch of racing, Dylan Thornton unloaded his Salty's BBQ & Catering No. 38T Stock Car at Clay County Fair Speedway (Spencer, Iowa) on Monday evening for The $250,000 Challenge.
With prelims taking place on Monday and Tuesday, Thornton opened the three-day event with a runner-up finish in Monday’s qualifier.
Back at the 3/8-mile oval on Wednesday after Mother Nature washed on Tuesday’s program, Dylan raced into the $16,667-to-win Stock Car A-Main with a consolation victory. Muscling forward two spots in the 30-lap affair, Thornton posted a seventh-place finish.
In the Super Late Model ranks on Saturday evening at Maquoketa Speedway (Maquoketa, Iowa), Dylan went third-to-first in his heat race aboard the Kay Racing No. 38T Late Model. Starting on the pole for the Malvern Bank East Series sanctioned feature, Thornton rolled to a third-place finish, joining Justin Kay and Andy Eckrich on the podium.
Following a Sunday rainout at Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway (Dubuque, Iowa), Thornton’s Memorial Day weekend concluded on Monday with an 11th-place finish in the Malvern Bank East Series A-Main at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa).
