Cody Thompson continues season at Clay County and Hamilton County
IMCA and USMTS Modified competition was on the docket for Cody Thompson on Monday and Wednesday, respectively, as he raced at a pair of Hawkeye State tracks.
On Monday, he piloted the No. 15J machine in a 25-car IMCA Modified field at Spencer, Iowa’s Clay County Fair Speedway during the first day of the $250,000 Challenge. Thompson finished eighth in his heat race but did not start the 20-lap, $1,000-to-win feature at the 3/8-mile clay oval.
Wednesday saw Thompson shift gears to Summit USMTS action as he climbed aboard his Team Harris Auto Racing No. 25c Modified for the 24-car, 14th annual USMTS Spring Classic at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster, Iowa. Thompson took fifth place in his heat and finished second in the B-Feature on the half-mile track. That slotted him 16th to start the 35-lap, $3,000-to-win main event. He ultimately was scored as coming home 18th in the race after recording a DNF.
