Stevens takes on Show-Me 100 weekend
Following a week off, Tyler Stevens traveled to Wheatland, Missouri’s Lucas Oil Speedway over Memorial Day weekend for three nights of racing in the 32nd annual Show-Me 100 festivities.
On Thursday, 63 Super Late Models descended on the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks” for the Cowboy Classic, the annual first-night program of the crown-jewel Show-Me 100 event sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) and the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA). Stevens took seventh in his heat race and fifth in his B-Main on the 3/8-mile track. His night thus came to a close in advance of the 45-lap, $10,000-to-win feature.
The next night, 59 LOLMDS and MLRA competitors sought another $10,000 first-place payday in the Tribute to Don and Billie Gibson. Stevens came home seventh in his heat and eighth in his B-Main after suffering a flat left-rear tire, ending his evening before the 40-lap feature race.
Saturday’s program again brought 63 Super Late Models to the track with a $50,000 top prize on the line. Stevens finished fifth in one of three B-Mains, but had one more chance to make the main event if he could win the Show-Me Challenge. He turned in a valiant sixth-to-second run, but came up one spot shy of a transfer into the 80-lap finale.
