Show-Me 100 weekend brings Marlar to Wheatland
Mike Marlar followed the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) to Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) to kick off his Memorial Day weekend with the Thursday’s Cowboys Classic.
Drawing 63 entries for the event co-sanctioned with the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association (MLRA), Marlar qualified sixth-fastest in his group before placing second in his heat. After an unapproved tire in staging for the feature docked him to the tail of the 45-lapper, Mike salvaged a 23rd-place finish.
For Friday's Tribute to Don and Billie Gibson event, Marlar earned his spot in the $10,000-to-win feature by winning his B-Main. Charging forward 11 spots in the 40-lap main event, Marlar landed inside the Top-10 in ninth which automatically locked him into Saturday's finale.
Wrapping up the weekend with a $50,000 payday up for grabs, Marlar started 15th but was unfortunately an early retiree on lap 54. He was scored 23rd with a DNF.
Marlar is currently fifth in the LOLMDS point standings.
