Mike Marlar

Second-place finish in Port Royal's Battle in the Borough

Mike Marlar returned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) over the weekend as the series headed east to kick off a three race swing with Friday’s Melvin L. Joseph Memorial at Georgetown Speedway (Georgetown, Del.).

Positioned on the fifth row for the $19,049-to-win opener via a third-place finish in his heat race, Marlar rallied from the back after a tangle on a lap-40 restart to finish 18th.

With Mother Nature on Saturday forcing officials to cancel the Conococheague 50 at Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Md.), Mike traveled to Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.) on Sunday for the track’s Battle in the Borough. After topping his 23-car group in time trials, Marlar raced into the weekend finale with a convincing heat race victory. With a $10,000 payday up for grabs, Mike rolled to a consistent runner-up finish in the 40-lapper, chasing race-long pacesetter Ricky Thornton Jr. to the checkers.

Mike is currently fourth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
