Hammer bags fourth-place finish in Illini 100 opener at Farmer City Raceway
Kicking off his 2024 season and his pursuit for the MARS Modified Racing Series title, Kyle Hammer invaded Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) on Friday evening to pilot his Troy Page Excavating No. 45 Modified.
In a stout field of 47 cars, Hammer outran pole-starting Mike McKinney in his heat race to pick up the eight-lap victory. Chasing the $2,000 top prize in Friday’s opener, Kyle rolled to a fourth-place finish in the 30-lapper. He trailed Michael Long, McKinney, and Michael Ledford across the line with Dave Wietholder coming in fifth.
On Saturday, Kyle followed up a fifth-place finish in his heat with a consolation victory. Starting the $2,000-to-win weekend finale in 17th, Hammer muscled forward four spots in the 30-lapper to register a 13th-place finish.
Kyle is currently fifth in the MARS Modified Racing Series point standings with the first weekend in the books.
