Seventh-place finish in Indiana Icebreaker at Brownstown
With the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series doubleheader in Tennessee rained out, Brandon Sheppard entered the Longhorn Factory Team No. B5 Late Model into battle with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Saturday at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) for the 27th annual Indiana Icebreaker.
Amassing 48 cars, Sheppard backed up the fastest lap in his 24-car group with a heat race victory. Starting on the front row for the $15,000-to-win A-Main, Brandon paced the opening 14 circuits before fading to seventh at the finish with a softer tire.
For Sunday’s Buckeye Spring 50 at Atomic Speedway (Chillicothe, Ohio), Brandon squeezed into the feature with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat. With a $12,000 top prize up for grabs, Sheppard lost two spots to finish 17th.
