Dan Stone finds new life in Victory Lane
On Saturday June 11th the Hagerstown Speedway hosted the KRS Graphics Appalachian Mountain Speedweek Series presented by Dirt on Dirt in which the Hoosier Tire Super Late Models would complete in a 40 lap featured event paying at top prize of $5,000. Dan Stone from Whitestown PA dominated the 40 lapper and found new life in victory lane.
The feature had few cautions but one caution that may change the series point’s battle was midway through the feature. Defending series champion and points leader coming into the Hagerstown Speedway Jeff Rine in the 2J lost a motor going into turn 1 in hit the wall hard midway between turns 1 and 2. At the time Rine lost his motor he was running a strong 2nd just a few car lengths behind Stone. After Rine lost a motor Marvin Winters in the #46 would hold onto 2nd. Winters in his post-race interview stated this was almost like a win and it was a big team effort to finish 2nd amongst the top tristate drivers.
Jason Covert in the #72 from York Haven PA would start 12th and push his way into the top five and finish 3rd.
The big mover the race was Raphine Virginia’s CS Fitzgerald. The #100 of Fitzgerald would start 24th and dance his way through the field and finish 11th. CS would receive the D & D Auto Recycling Hard Charger Award.
Earlier in the night Kenny Pettyjohn in the #38 from Millsboro Delaware would set the Ernie D’s Enterprises Fast Time. Pettyjohn would finish his night in the 6th place position.
Austin Hubbard from Seaford Delaware in the #11 MBH Chassis would also have a strong finish. Hubbard who started 10th would race side by side with the likes of Keith Jackson from Martinsburg West Virginia, Rick Eckert from York PA and Mark PettyJohn from Milton Delaware but in the end Hubbard would finish 4th.
When Stone pulled into victory lane you could see the high level of emotion in his face. Stone has been facing bad luck over the past two years and was looking to sell all of his equipment but may have changed his mind after picking up a big win. In victory lane Stone stated, “A win at the Hagerstown Speedway is something that all drivers want”. Stone also noted he needed a few cautions to cool his tires in order to finish strong. Stone also talked about the positive move that he made this year but teaming with Lazer Chassis and Bernheisel Racing. Dan Stone would lead every lap and collect $5,000.

In the Cochran Auctioneers Late Model Sportsmens Rodney Walls from St Thomas PA would pass Hagerstown MD’s Alan Sagi mid –way through the feature on the outside coming out of turn 4 and never look back. Walls in victory lane, “we have worked on this car all week… A big thank you to Bo Feathers for giving us a great shock package”. Walls also gave a special thank you to his Mom and Dad along with his team members.
Walls who started 4th would waste no time passing Mike Walls and Justin Weaver in order to chase down the #5 of Sagi. It took a few laps but Walls would finally pass Sagi coming out of turn 4. In the end Walls would have a comfortable lead as the checkered flag would wave.

Chris Ebersole would find is way back to victory lane which adds to his points lead in the Pure Stock division. Ebersole would start 3rd but had to work extremely hard to get around Jaime Zentmyer and Sean Dawson. Dawson would lead the first half of the feature but Zentmyer would take the lead for a few laps at the mid way point. Ebersole would finally work his way around Zentmyer and ride into victory lane.
