Mullens lands on podium at Hunt County Raceway

Tanner Mullens returned to the track on Friday and Saturday as the 2024 Summit United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) schedule got underway.

On Friday, 49 Modifieds were in the pit area at Greenville, Texas’ Hunt County Raceway for the first night of the ninth annual USMTS Texas Winter Nationals. Mullens drove his Fuqua Trucking No. 02 ride to a heat race win on the quarter-mile oval and started seventh in the 40-lap, $5,000-to-win A-Main. He ran in the top 10 for much of the first half of the race but ultimately suffered a DNF and recorded a 20th-place result.

The next night, Mullens was among 50 USMTS Modified drivers at Hunt County. He grabbed another victory in his heat race and started third in the 50-lap A-Main paying $5,000 to the winner. Mullens led five laps in the event and never ran outside of a podium spot. He ultimately took the checkered flag third behind Jim Chisholm and Jason Hughes. Dereck Ramirez and Lucas Schott rounded out the top five.

Mullens is currently 10th in USMTS points.
