Mike Benedum caps off Speedweeks at Volusia Speedway Park
After leaving East Bay a few days early, Mike Benedum headed to Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) on Monday night for the first night of the DIRTcar Nationals.
With 47 Late Models packed into the pit area, Benedum qualified fourth-quickest but faded in his heat race. Needing a Top-2 finish in the Last Chance Showdown, Mike recorded a seventh-place finish.
For another $7,000-to-win event on Tuesday, Mike once again found himself in a LCS and recorded an eighth-place outing.
With a different format being utilized on Wednesday, Benedum started the 20-lap feature from the third-row and recorded a Top-10 finish in seventh.
With the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series sanctioning the remainder of the weekend, Benedum was unable to make Thursday or Friday's main event after seventh and 11th-place runs in his Last Chance Showdowns.
Saturday's $16,000-to-win DIRTcar Nationals finale was cancelled ahead of time with rough weather in the forecast.
