Tough start to 2024 for Mandy Chick

Mandy Chick’s 2024 season got off to a surprise early start on Friday evening at Florida’s Daytona International Speedway. Unfortunately, her season debut in the ARCA Menards Series also came to an early end.

During the day on Friday, ARCA officials moved the Daytona ARCA 200 from its originally scheduled Saturday afternoon start time to late Friday night due to incoming inclement weather. The result was both qualifying and the season-opening race took place on the same day, an unplanned wrinkle for the teams involved.

Chick turned in a 50.398-second lap in group qualifying for the evening’s event, starting her No. 74 Dynamic Drivelines/FK Rod Ends/Fragola Performance Chevrolet SS 30th in the 40-car field.

Soon after the race took green, Chick was involved in a multi-car crash on the fourth lap at the 2.5-mile superspeedway. With a damaged car, she then made hard contact with the Turn Two wall near the 20-lap mark, bringing her evening to a close with a 34th-place finish.
