Jensen Ford kicks off 2024 season with Bruce Kane Racing at East Bay Raceway Park
With the first night of action postponed due to rain showers, Jensen Ford and the Bruce Kane Racing team trekked to East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, FL) on Tuesday afternoon to compete with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
With 75 Late Models in attendance for the final East Bay Winternationals, Ford started his heat race from the fifth-spot and faded to 11th. Jensen was unable to transfer through his B-Main later on in the evening.
Picking up speed on Wednesday, Jensen topped his qualifying group and convincely won his heat race. Sitting on the pole position for the $7,000-to-win main event, Ford lost the battle for the lead but remained inside the Top-10 before slowing with just a few laps remaining. He was scored 22nd in the final rundown.
For the first five-figure payday on Thursday, Ford started his heat race in a transfer but faded to finish ninth. Needing a Top-2 finish in the B-Main to make the feature, Jensen recorded a 12th-place outing.
With Monday's make-up event spanning multiple days, Jensen missed the setup in Tuesday's qualifying session and did not start his B-Main on Wednesday.
On Friday afternoon, Ford snuck into the A-Main after grabbing the win in his B-Main. Jensen was an early retiree from the $12,000-to-win race with a 28th-place finish.
For East Bay's final Winternationals event, Ford picked up the pace and qualified second-fastest in his group before outdueling his competitors for the heat race victory. With a $15,000 paycheck up for grabs, Jensen ran inside the Top-5 before slipping over the cushion and making hard contact with the wall. Ford was shaken up after the hit but returned home with no major injuries sustained.
