Holcombe heads back to Florida for DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia
Continuing his Speedweeks in Florida, Austin Holcombe joined the field at Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) on Wednesday afternoon for the third night of the DIRTcar Nationals.
With the Modified field up to 109 entries, Holcombe qualified 11th-quickest in his group which placed him in the fourth feature on the sixth row. Moving forward five positions, Austin recorded a sixth-place outing.
On Thursday afternoon, Austin was placed in the sixth feature based on points. Once again climbing through the field, Holcombe charged from 17th-to-9th in the 15-lap feature to finish inside the Top-10.
Missing the setup in Friday's qualifying session, Holcombe was only able to salvage an 11th-place finish in the feature.
To compete in Saturday's $5,000-to-win finale, Austin needed to find a transfer spot in his Last Chance Showdown. Marching through the field, Holcombe came up just a few spots short of transferring to the main event.
