Jackson Jr. starts LOLMDS rookie campaign at Golden Isles
Tony Jackson Jr. began the latest chapter of his racing career over the weekend as he kicked off his rookie season in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) with the Super Bowl of Racing at Golden Isles Speedway (Waynesville, Georgia).
Driving the Capital Race Cars No. 25 entry, Jackson was among 51 LOLMDS competitors at the 4/10-mile clay oval on Thursday as the tour’s 2024 campaign got underway. The Lebanon, Missouri, driver finished fifth in his heat race and sixth in his B-Main, necessitating the use of an emergency provisional to transfer into the 40-lap, $10,000-to-win feature. Jackson started 26th and finished 21st.
After Friday’s scheduled $12,000-to-win program was rained out, Jackson returned to Golden Isles on Saturday, where 49 LOLMDS competitors were looking for a $25,000 payday. Jackson took a seventh-place finish in his heat and was ninth in his B-Feature, ending his evening short of the 60-lap finale.
