Morgan Bagley
Mo Bags carries on solid start to season at Vado
Morgan Bagley continued the opening act of his 2024 campaign on Wednesday through Sunday with the final four rounds of the 18th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout. He advanced to the main event on three of the four nights that concluded the six-race miniseries at Vado (N.M.) Speedway Park.
After scoring a best finish of 18th on the event’s opening weekend, Bagley’s Billy Bob’s Repair & Tire No. 14M Super Late Model returned to the 3/8-mile oval on Wednesday as part of a 39-car field. Bagley finished fifth in his heat and won his B-Main to move into the night’s 30-lap, $11,000-to-win feature race. He started 18th but recorded a DNF and a 21st-place result.
After a break on Thursday, Mo Bags and Team 14 hit the track on Friday evening in search of another $11,000 first-place payout. Bagley came home sixth in his heat and drove from third to first his B-Feature to roll off 17th in the 40-lap main event. He finished 13th.
A $11,000 first-place prize again was on the line on Saturday, attracting another 43-car-strong Super Late Model field. After finishing seventh in his heat race and sixth in his B-Main, Bagley’s night came to an end before the night’s feature race.
The following day, 37 Super Late Models descended on Vado for the $26,000-to-win finale. Bagley took the sixth spot in his heat, then captured the checkered flag in his “B” to start 17th in the event’s 50-lap conclusion. He finished in the same position.
