Holland notches top-10 finish at Wild West Shootout
Fresh off of making both A-Mains on the opening weekend of the 18th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout, Chase Holland and his No. 45 Modified team continued their strong showing in the six-race series’ second week at Vado (N.M.) Speedway Park.
Wednesday represented round three of the miniseries at the 3/8-mile track, where 52 Modifieds dotted the pit area. Holland came home 10th in his heat and finished eighth in his B-Main, putting him outside a transfer spot into the night’s 25-lap, $1,000-to-win feature.
After an off day on Thursday, Holland turned in his best showing of the event on Friday in an impressive 59-car Modified field. After finishing eighth in his heat, Holland transferred to the $1,000-to-win feature race with a ninth-to-third performance in his B-Main. In the 25-lap main event, Holland powered his way forward 13 positions and finished ninth after starting 22nd.
With 57 Modifieds on hand the next day, Holland took fourth in his heat and used a runner-up finish in his “B” to start 20th in the 25-lap, $2,000-to-win A-Main. He came home in the 18th position in the Saturday feature.
As inclement weather moved in on Sunday, Holland and his team elected to head home and forego the event’s 25-lap, $2,000-to-win finale.
