Pierce McCarter battles tough weekend at Talladega Short Track
To open his 2024 racing season, Pierce McCarter made the trek to Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.) on Friday afternoon for night one of the 33rd-running of the Ice Bowl.
Competing in both the Crate and Super Late Model divisions, McCarter began the evening by winning his Super Late Model heat race to land him the pole position for Saturday's 50-lap feature. In Crate action, Pierce's weekend ended early after getting caught up in a wreck during his heat race.
Slated to start the $7,500-to-win feature from the pole, McCarter shot off into turn one on the opening lap before getting tangled up with Sam Seawright while battling for the lead. With too much damage to the car, Pierce recorded a DNF.
