Fifth-place finish in Gateway Dirt Nationals at The Dome
Breaking out his Performance Plus Global Logistics No. 8 Modified for his final event of the 2023 season, Kyle Steffens invaded The Dome at America’s Center (St. Louis, Mo.) on Friday to compete in his preliminary night for the seventh running of the Gateway Dirt Nationals.
With the field of 60 Modified invitees split into two groups for prelims, Steffens backed up the eighth-fastest qualifying effort with an eight-lap heat race victory. Chasing a $3,000 payday in the preliminary feature, Kyle rolled to a fourth-place finish.
Starting on the front row of his qualifier on Saturday, Kyle stormed into the $10,000-to-win Gateway Dirt Nationals finale with a flag-to-flag triumph. Starting in fifth, Steffens climbed three spots in the 30-lap affair to register a fifth-place finish. He trailed Drake Troutman, Mike Harrison, Jordan Grabouski, and Michael Ledford to the checkers.
