Salute To The Racing Heroes Was Made of Heroes
Last week we had the race of the year, with a total of 71 cars we did double heats with a transfer switch. Meaning if you started up front on your first heat then you'll be more than likely in the back on the next heat, but the catch was you would not be racing the same drivers everytime. This gives drivers a more fair advantage, this also put on a better show for the fans because they didn't know who had the advantage of each heat. Kyle Slader showed off his speed since night one at practice and never slowed down the whole weekend, but track champion Jeffrey Kaup dominated both of his heats which put him on the pole of the Feature. Everyone had their eye on him thinking that he may had something for the bmods but with the track being totally different the next night he felt like he missed the setup and just couldn't get the drive he needed. Robert Elliott showed no mercy though starting from the 17th position, he ended up finishing 5th. At the end of the night Kyle was the man to beat with Reece Solander finishing 2nd, Rowdy Day 3rd and Cody King finishing 4th. I want to thank everyone who raced the series this year and a huge thank you to Michelle Powers for keeping everyone in line on the track. I also want to thank everyone at Elk CIty Motorsports Park for keeping the races for the series going while I had to be away because of my work schedule and needing to spend more time at home while I take care of my wife Crystal, for those that don't know she has been fighting CIPD which is a chronic disease that has paralyzed her since January and it has been a really tough battle. I don't really get personal on here, but just remember to always spend time with your loved ones because you never know what will happen the next day. I also want to thank drivers, fans and crew members for coming last weekend. This event had a true meaning behind it with having my dad Steve Slater (#00) passing away in Jan of 2022 and a great friend of mine Don Reid Jr (#58) passing away in Jan of 2020 we decided the event would be perfect to have it $5800 to win and then we wanted everyone to be involved so we called it Salute to the Racing Heroes for the ones who passed and for the ones that are still around . With that being said, last weekend you all put on a show that all of our racing heroes will never forget and I cannot express how much it means to me. Congrats again to Kyle Slader for the win.
