Trio of top-10 finishes for Taylor in Race for Hope 71 event

Jeff Taylor returned to his home track of Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas) over the weekend to compete in the seventh annual Race for Hope 71 aboard his No. 5 Modified.

When the racing action kicked off on Thursday, Taylor was among 46 IMCA Modified drivers in the pit area at the 3/8-mile track. He finished as runner-up in his heat race and drove from 12th to third in the 20-lap A-Main, rounding out the podium behind Cody Thompson and Drake Findley. Brandon Smith took the fourth spot and Tim Ward finished fifth.

On Friday, 45 IMCA Modifieds were on the property for night two of competition. Taylor finished fourth in his heat and won his B-Main to advance to the 20-lap feature. He started 19th and moved forward 10 spots to record a ninth-place result.

Saturday’s finale again saw 45 IMCA Modifieds in the pits with drivers after the $10,000 first-place prize. Taylor started fifth in the 71-lap main event thanks to points earned the previous two nights. He stayed in the top five the duration of the race, running as high as second in the middle portion, before finishing fourth.

He trailed Wendell Wallace, Tim Ward and Jacob Hobscheidt under the checkered flag, with Zane DeVilbiss finishing fifth.
