McCowan 12th in Whynot's Fall Classic

Dillon McCowan embarked on his maiden voyage to Whynot (Miss.) Motorsports Park over the weekend for the 29th annual Coors Light Fall Classic.

Forty-seven entries were in action at the Rodney Wing owned oval on Friday evening with the field being divided into twin $3,000-to-win programs. Dillon got behind in qualifying with only the 20th-fastest time in his group, but he was able to rebounded to charged to a fifth-place finish in his heat race.

Starting 14th on the grid for his prelim feature, McCowan was only able to manage a 15th-place finish.

Action continued on Saturday with Dillon enjoying a much better qualifying effort with the 13th-best time in his group. He followed up his solid qualifying performance with a fifth-to-third run in his heat race to lock into the 14th-starting spot for the $15,000-to-win 60-lap finale.

In the main event at the lightning-fast, 3/8 mile oval he advanced to a 12th-place finish.
