Red Farmer Tribute brings Payton Freeman to Talladega Short Track
With the NASCAR festivities happening across the street, Payton Freeman made the trip to Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.) to compete with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series in the Red Farmer Tribute weekend.
Among 42 Late Models on the premises, Freeman qualified 12th-fastest before grabbing the final transfer spot in his heat race. Starting towards the rear in the 38-lap feature, Payton recorded a 13th-place finish.
Looking for a better outing on Saturday evening, Payton picked it up in qualifying and earned a fourth row starting position after a runner-up outing in his heat. For a $9,700 payday, Payton made contact battling for position which sent him spinning and out of the race. He was eventually scored 22nd.
