Mitchell continues CCSDS season at Boothill with a special new look
Jon Mitchell raced with a new wrap for a special cause at Boothill Speedway (Greenwood, Louisiana) on Saturday. His car's updated colors honor his mother’s ongoing battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mitchell’s No. 5 Super Late Model, adorned with the purple pancreatic cancer ribbon, was among 32 COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) entries at the track for the 51st annual Louisiana Dirt Track State Championship.
Mitchell came home fourth in his heat race on the quarter-mile oval and began the 40-lap, $5,000-to-win main event from the 14th position. He struggled in the race and registered a 20th-place result.
Mitchell, the 2012 COMP Cams Super Dirt Series champion, is currently seventh in series points.
The Texarkana, Texas, driver had planned to unveil his new wrap on Friday at Texarkana 67 Speedway (Texarkana, Arkansas), but the slated CCSDS event fell to inclement weather.
