Bryan 10th in Labor Day Classic at Bedford; Jim scores sixth at Selinsgrove

Bryan Bernheisel lifted the Labor Day weekend tripleheader for Bernheisel Racing on Friday evening at Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pa.) for the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series (ULMS) sanctioned Labor Day Classic.

With 37 Late Models entered for the 35th running of the annual event, Bryan followed up the second-fastest qualifying effort in his 18-car group with a heat race triumph. Starting the $12,055-to-win A-Main in eighth via the redraw, Bernheisel lost two spots to finish 10th.

In a field of 34 ULMS entries on Saturday at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.) for the Butch Renninger Memorial, Bernheisel raced into the feature with a third-place finish in his heat but suffered a left-rear flat tire on the final lap that dropped him from 10th to 17th.

With Jim joining in on the fun on Sunday at Selinsgrove Speedway (Selinsgrove, Pa.), Jim secured his spot into the main event with a second-place showing in his heat while Bryan faded to finish sixth. Jim gained two positions to place sixth while Bryan picked up the event’s hard charger honors with an 18th-to-9th charge.
