JCM Motorsports follows Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series for Georgia doubleheader
Heading to the Peach State for another weekend of Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series action, Wil Herrington unloaded his Yellow Hammer Design & Construction No. 19 Rocket XR1 at Needmore Speedway (Norman Park, Ga.) for the first leg of a doubleheader weekend.
Among a smaller field of cars on Friday, Wil laid down the fastest lap in qualifying and earned the pole position for the 40-lap feature after winning his heat race. Leading the first 12 laps of the $5,000-to-win show, Herrington eventually slowed with a mechanical problem which forced him to retire from the event. He was scored 13th in the final rundown.
Looking for better luck at Senoia (Ga.) Raceway on Saturday, Wil struggled to find grip on the slick surface and started the $5,400-to-win feature from the eighth row. Moving forward four positions in the 40-lap main event, Herrington recorded a 10th-place outing.
Herrington is currently third in the series points standings.
The JCM Motorsports team will return to the track this coming weekend as the tour travels back to Georgia for events at Lavonia (Ga.) Speedway and Rome (Ga.) Speedway.
