Feger finds victory lane at Highland, pockets $5,000 MARS victory
Continuing his pursuit for the MARS Championship Series title, Jason Feger followed the tour to Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.) on Friday afternoon for the Gary Gerstner Memorial.
Drawing 27 cars for the opener to a doubleheader weekend, Feger followed up the seventh-fastest qualifying effort with a third-place finish in his heat. Moving forward two spots in the 30-lap feature, Jason rolled to a fifth-place finish, which came behind Tony Jackson Jr., Cody Laney, Gordy Gundaker, and Mike Harrison.
With the field inflated to 29 MARS Championship Series entries on Saturday at Highland Speedway (Highland, Ill.), Jason outran Mike Harrison in his eight-lap heat to pick up the victory. Rolling off third for the main event, Feger tracked down Tanner English coming out of turn four on lap 24 and led the remainder of the 40-lapper to record his 11th win of the 2023 campaign and 20th career victory with the MARS Championship Series. He bagged a $5,000 payday ahead of Bob Gardner, Harrison, Cody Laney, and Kyle Hammer.
Jason holds a 69-point advantage over Ryan Unzicker atop the latest MARS point standings.
