Uphill Battle for McCowan at Husets; 16th in Elkhorn 100

Dillon McCowan made his debut at Huset's Speedway (Brandon, S.D.) over the weekend at the 13th annual Silver Dollar Nationals presented by MyRacePass.

A star-studded field of 36 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) competitors were on hand for Thursday's opening round. After qualifying sixth fastest in his group, McCowan missed the transfer to the feature with a sixth-place finish in his heat race.

B-Main action found him finishing fifth, which left Dillon two spots short of transferring to the $12,000-to-win feature as his night came to an early end.

After seeing Friday's preliminary action paused by Mother Nature, the team entered a doubleheader on Saturday. The outing began with double heat races, where Dillon finished seventh and sixth, which pinned him sixth on the grid for that evening's B-Main.

He started and finished sixth in the B-Main, which relegated Dillon to the $2,000-to-win non-qualifier's feature, where he ultimately finished third behind Matt Cosner and Morgan Bagley.

From there the team traveled southwest to Nebraska's Off Road Speedway for the inaugural Elkhorn 100. On Monday night the the 28-car field was divided into twin $5,000-to-win prelim features, and McCowan finished 13th in his respective main event.

Tuesday night found Dillon starting 26th on the grid for the $100,000-to-win finale. He clawed his way forward to a 16th-place finish in the 100-lap finale.
