Trey Mills finishes eighth in Independence Shootout at Senoia Raceway
On Saturday afternoon, Trey Mills trekked to Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.) for the co-sanctioned Independence Shootout with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series and Ultimate Super Late Model Series.
With 39 Late Models on hand, Trey finished runner-up in his heat race which earned him the fifth-place starting position in the 50-lap main event. With $10,000 on the line, Trey battled inside the Top-10 and recorded an eighth-place finish.
Wrapping up the mid-season points chase at Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tenn.) on Sunday, Trey was the fastest overall qualifier and was victorious in his heat race. Rolling off from the pole position in the $7,500-to-win main event, Mills led laps 1-12 before being overtaken by Sam Seawright. Just before a lap 22 restart, Trey's nose piece folded under itself which ended his night early. He was scored 20th in the final rundown.
Trey is currently fourth in the HTFSDS point standings at the series' summer break.
