Trio of top-five finishes in World of Outlaws Midwest invasion
To kick off a three-race midwestern swing with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series, Nick Hoffman visited Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) on Thursday afternoon for the Farmer City Showdown.
Aboard his Tye Twarog Racing No. 9 Late Model, Hoffman clocked in sixth-fastest in his group before placing second in his heat. Receiving the second-starting position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main via the redraw, Nick led laps 1-27 but was overtaken by Bobby Pierce while battling lapped traffic, relegating him to second when the checkers flew. Kyle Bronson, Dennis Erb Jr., and Ryan Gustin completed the top-five finishers in the 40-lapper.
For Friday’s World of Outlaws visit at Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.), Nick outran Kyle Larson in his heat to pick up the eight-lap victory. With the redraw placing him on the second row for the feature, Hoffman challenged for the win late in the action-packed 40-lap affair before ultimately finishing fourth.
The World of Outlaws tripleheader weekend drew to a close on Sunday at Paducah International Raceway (Paducah, Ky.) with Hoffman qualifying for the $15,000-to-win USA World 50 A-Main with a fifth-to-third run in his heat. Capping off the weekend with another top-five finish, Nick jumped up three spots to place fourth. He chased Brian Shirley, Kyle Bronson, and Chris Madden to the checkers with Brandon Sheppard coming in fifth.
Nick is currently tied for second with Kyle Bronson in the latest WoO point standings.
