Putnam takes on busy Memorial Day weekend of racing
Josh Putnam began his holiday weekend on Friday afternoon at Thunderhill Raceway Park (Summertown, Tenn.) for the Southern All Stars-sanctioned Memorial Day Classic.
With 23 Late Models in the pit area, Putnam secured his spot in the feature by qualifying third-quickest overall. Rolling off from the second-row in the $5,000-to-win main event, Putnam was involved in a lap 21 incident that resulted in Putnam being disqualified. He was credited with a 23rd-place finish.
Hoping for better luck at Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tenn.), Josh was one of 34 Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals signed in on Sunday afternoon. Following the sixth-quickest lap in his group, Putnam finished third in his heat race before going on to record a 12th-place finish in the $10,053-to-win main event.
Capping off the extended weekend on Tuesday afternoon at Clarksville Speedway (Clarksville, Tenn.) with the Ultimate Heart of America Series, Putnam was victorious in his heat race and was running inside the Top-5 in the $10,000-to-win feature when he made contact with a lap car that ended his night early.
