Brian Shirley Salvages Seventh Place Run At Muskingum County Speedway
DRESDEN, Ohio (May 20, 2023) Still managing to get three nights of racing in this past week,despite Mother Nature's best attempts, Brian Shirley ended the run on somewhat of a high-note Saturday when the team detoured to Ohio's Muskingum County Speedway.
Starting the night with a Heat Race win, then the pole in the A-Feature, the final result ended up being seventh at the Jim Dunn Memorial.
While the position prior to Lap 27 would have been preferred as Shirley led the way through the race's mid-point with the XR Workin' Man Late Model Series, a low-line move on a slower car with Nick Hoffman chasing saw the No. 3 pushing through the bottom and opening the door for Hoffman to take over in the first and second turns. The finish is the 15th top ten this year for the Bob Cullen Racing No. 3.
Leading into Saturday, Brian Shirley was at Fairbury Speedway on May 13, where the team dug out of the B-Feature to advance seven spots to 13th at the FALS Spring Shootout. Friday, May 19 at Marion Center Speedway with the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Models saw the team move from tenth to fifth before problems on Lap 33 saw the team fade to 19th.
Up next is State Line Speedway World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Models on May 23, followed by three nights at Sharon Speedway on May 25, 26, and 27.
