First Event of Victoria Day Double Header Cancelled Due to Persistent Rain

THOROLD, ONTARIO (May 20, 2023)...Persistent rain showers creating a high-water table and saturated grounds at Merrittville Speedway have forced track officials to cancel Saturday’s event of the Victoria Day Weekend Double Header. "With cloud cover to move in after the rain subsides, it is not the mix we need to dry the grounds", says owner Don Spiece

Merrittville Speedway officials and staff have started preparation for the Victoria Day Holiday Monday event sponsored by ZFS Benefit Solutions. Former Nascar star Ken Schrader will be making a visit to the track to drive a Corr/Pak Merchandising 358 Modified. Late Model fans will be excited to see the appearance of the Northeast Late Model Alliance, who are making their long awaited return to Canada's oldest dirt track. The Hoosier Stocks will be racing a 75 lap feature sponsored by Peacemaker 420, that will pay the winner $2500.00. The Rona Doidge Mod Lites will also be on the card. The night will end with a beautiful fireworks show to celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday.

Pit gates will open at 4pm, with grandstands opening at 5:30pm, and racing will begin at 7:00pm. Special event admission prices will be in place, with pit admission being $50 and kids 5 and under will be charged $20 pit admission. Grandstand admission is $25 for adults, seniors (60 +) is $22 and youth (13-18) will be $20, with kids 8-12 admitted $10. As always, kids 7 and under will be admitted FREE.

Merrittville Speedway has confirmed with Dean Reynolds, DIRTcar Northeast Director, that the DIRTcar Sportsman Western Series Tour race will be rescheduled for Canada Day Saturday July 1, 2023.
