Winger 10th in Illinois Speedweek opener at Spoon River
Taking part in a mid-week doubleheader with the Castrol FloRacing Night in America miniseries, Ashton Winger invaded Spoon River Speedway (Canton, Ill.) on Wednesday afternoon for the $23,023-to-win show.
Following the ninth-quickest qualifying lap in his group, Winger finished sixth in his heat before grabbing the final transfer spot in the final B-Main. Rolling off from the grid in 22nd, Ashton stormed forward twelve positions to score a Top-10 finish in the 50-lap main event.
For another $23,023-to-win show at Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.) on Thursday afternoon, Ashton earned the a third-row starting position in the main event after narrowly winning his heat race. For the 50-lap feature, Winger recorded an 11th-place outing.
Making the haul to Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) on Saturday afternoon, Winger qualified sixth-fastest in his group before recording a DNF in his heat race. Ashton was a scratch in his B-Main.
