Johnny finishes 13th with World of Outlaws at Talladega Short Track
Stormy Scott kicked off a busy race week for Scott Brothers Racing on Tuesday afternoon with a visit to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the opening round of the Castrol FloRacing Night in America miniseries.
Amassing 54 Late Models, Stormy’s fifth-to-second run in his heat race placed him on the sixth row for the opener. With $23,023 on the line, Scott faded four positions to finish 16th.
For another $23,023-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America event on Wednesday at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.), Scott followed up the 14th-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a third-place finish in his heat. Losing two spots in the 50-lap feature, Stormy crossed the line in 16th.
On Thursday with his brother joining him in action at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.) for the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series-sanctioned Seymour Showdown, Stormy raced his way into the show with a consolation victory while Johnny failed to qualify for the feature in his heat and B-Main. Stormy went onto place 17th in the 40-lapper.
In a field of 62 World of Outlaws entries on Friday at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.) for the two-day Alabama Gang 100, Johnny timed in 14th-fastest in his qualifying group while Stormy stopped-the-clock 11th fastest in his group. Gunning for a $4,000 payday in their preliminary features, Stormy passed five cars to finish sixth while Johnny dropped two spots to finish 16th.
For Saturday’s finale, Stormy’s second-place finish in his heat locked him the main event but Johnny was forced to take a provisional into the $50,000-to-win Alabama Gang 100. Nearly wheeling his way into the top-10, Johnny passed 13 cars in the 60-lap affair to cap off the weekend on the high note with a 13th-place finish. Stormy was an early retiree on the 10th circuit.
