Fergy grabs fourth-place finish in World of Outlaws prelim at TST
Chris Ferguson was one of 60 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series entries packed in the pit area at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.) on Friday night for the two-day Alabama Gang 100.
With the massive field divided into three groups for a round of preliminary features, Ferguson’s third-fastest lap in qualifying placed him on the second row of his prelim. With $4,000 on the line, Chris dropped one spot in the 20-lap affair to finish fourth. He chased Tanner English, Brian Shirley, and Drake Troutman to the checkers with Chris Madden coming in fifth.
Rolling off on the front row of his heat race on Saturday, Chris secured his spot into the $50,000-to-win Alabama Gang 100 A-Main with an eight-lap heat race victory. Starting in 10th, Ferguson slowed to bring out a caution on lap 43, relegating him to 22nd in the finishing order. His top-10 run was spoiled by mechanical issues in the rear-end of his The Racing Warehouse No. 22 Late Model.
