McDowell fourth in Seymour Showdown at 411 Motor Speedway
Dale McDowell made the short trip to 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.) on Thursday afternoon to compete with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series for the Seymour Showdown.
Following the second-fastest lap in his 24-car group, McDowell secured his spot into the redraw with a heat race win. Pulling the pole for the $20,000-to-win A-Main, Dale held onto a fourth-place finish in the 50-lapper after a mid-race contact while battling for the top spot. He followed Cory Hedgecock, Ricky Thornton Jr., and Kyle Bronson across the line with Ricky Weiss coming in fifth.
For the two-day Alabama Gang 100 at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.) on Friday, Dale’s qualifying effort placed him on the third row for his preliminary feature. With $4,000 on the line, McDowell recorded a sixth-place finish in the 20-lap affair.
On Saturday, McDowell missed a transfer spot by one car in his heat, relegating him into the B-Main. Locking the top-two into the $50,000-to-win main event, Dale fell one spot short with a third-place outing.
