Marlar scores fourth-place finish in Kyle Larson Late Model Challenge at Volunteer

Aboard his Delk Equipment Sales No. 157 Late Model, Mike Marlar was one of 44 cars amassed at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) on Thursday afternoon for the second running of the Kyle Larson Late Model Challenge.

Following the fourth-fastest lap in his 22-car group, Marlar outdueled pole-starting Jensen Ford in his heat to pick up the eight-lap victory. Rolling off fourth for the $20,000-to-win A-Main, Mike ran fourth in the 50-lapper, chasing Kyle Larson, Dale McDowell, and Jonathan Davenport to the checkers with Chris Madden coming in fifth.

For the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series season opener on Friday, Mike trekked to All-Tech Raceway (Lake City, Fla.) for the rain-shortened Southbound Throwdown. With a runner-up finish in his heat race placing him on the third row for the $20,000-to-win A-Main, Marlar inched forward one spot to finish third. He followed Ricky Thornton Jr. and Shane Clanton across the line in the 50-lap affair.
