Top-10 finish for Johnny in King of America XII opener at Humboldt
Johnny Scott returned to the Modified ranks on Thursday with a visit to Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kan.) to compete with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) for the King of America XII presented by Shocker Hitch.
Amongst a field of 63 cars, Scott followed up the fifth-fastest qualifying effort in his group with a heat race victory. With $3,000 on the line in Thursday’s preliminary feature, Johnny recorded a 10th-place finish.
Back in action on Saturday afternoon after Mother Nature wiped out Thursday’s contest, Johnny raced his way into the $12,000-to-win King of America XII finale with a consolation win after finishing fourth in his heat. Starting in 15th, Scott gained three positions in the 60-lap affair to finish 12th.
