Mike Benedum attends Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park
Mike Benedum continued his 2023 Speedweeks trek at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla) for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Winternationals.
For the $5,000 opener on Monday, Benedum qualified 26th before finishing 10th in his heat race. With one more chance to make the A-Main, Mike recorded a 11th-place finish in his B-Main.
For another $5,000-to-win show, Mike finished ninth in his heat which lined him up on the sixth row for his B-Main. Needing a Top-3 finish to transfer to the A-Main, Benedum recorded a 10th-place run.
On Wednesday, Benedum qualified 18th-quickest before falling three spots in his heat race to record a ninth-place finish. In the B-Main, Mike made up a few positions but ultimately fell short of making the main event.
After taking Thursday night off, Benedum returned to wheel on Friday and recorded his fastest qualifying lap of the week before finishing one spot out of a transfer in his heat race. Starting from the pole in his B-Main, Mike battled hard but ultimately fell just one spot short of making the A-Main field.
An unfavorable forecast for Saturday’s Wieland Winternationals event washed out the LOLMDS speedweek finale.
