Bailes begins Sunshine Nationals with win in Koehler Motorsports machine
Ross Bailes made the trip to Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) for a one-race partnership with Koehler Motorsports for the Sunshine Nationals weekend.
Bailes topped the qualifying charts in his group on Thursday, which handed him the pole position for the Qualifying Feature #1. Ross led all 20-laps and was unchallenged for the $1,500 payday. Bailes topped Jason Welshan and Tyler Bare, who rounded out the podium.
For another $1,500 feature on Friday, Ross recorded the third-quickest lap out of 34 Late Models in his qualifying group. With a front row starting position, Bailes settled for second after a hard fought battle with eventual winner Austin Yarbrough. Kyle Bronson, Jake Knowles, and Chase Collins completed the Top-5.
Saturday's finale at Volusia Speedway Park was cancelled due to rain.
