Gear Failure Ends Finchum's Day Early at Road America

Plymouth, Wisconsin (08/08/20) - Chad Finchum rolled into the sprawling Road America on Saturday to compete in the Henry 180 in his Smithbilt Homes No. 13 CrashClaimsR.us Toyota.

Early in the NASCAR Xfinity Series event at the 4.048-mile, road course Finchum advanced several spots. Unfortunately, during a Stage 1 restart, he lost third gear, which ultimately forced him to retire from the event.

"We were really looking forward to Road America. Even though we didn't have the best starting position, we passed 10 or 11 cars early in the first Stage. I felt like we had a pretty good piece, until there was a caution and we lost third gear on the restart," Finchum said. "We were forfeiting a lot of speed without the gear, so we decided to call it a day.

"Now I'm looking forward to heading to the Daytona Roval for the first time, and then a doubleheader at Dover after that."
