Horton visits the Dome for the Gateway Dirt Nationals
Austin Horton entered his Super K Express No. 16 Late Model in the 2022 Gateway Dirt Nationals and made his second ever visit to the Dome at America’s Center (St. Louis, Mo.).
After drawing into Friday's preliminary roster, Horton went sixth-quick out of 27 Late Models in his group before finishing second in his heat. With the runner-up finish locking him into Friday's $5,000-to-win preliminary feature, Horton completed all 25-laps and wound up 14th.
On Saturday, Horton started fourth in his qualifier race and moved forward one position to finish third. With one more shot at making the $30,000-to-win main event, Horton was an early retiree in his consolation race after pulling off on lap five.
