Taylor lands fifth-place finish in The Showdown opener at CAR, rallies in Sunday's finale
Jeff Taylor returned on his western swing on Thursday night with a visit to Central Arizona Raceway (Casa Grande, Ariz.) to compete in the The Showdown at CAR presented by Ed Whitehead Tire Pros.
Drawing 47 IMCA Modified entries for the three-day event, Taylor followed up a fourth-place performance in his heat with a third-to-first showing in his B-Main. Wheeling his way into the top-five in Friday’s prelim, Jeff marched through the field 13 spots to register an impressive fifth-place finish. He trailed Jake O’Neil, Jeremy Thornton, Zachary Madrid, and Tanner Black to the checkers.
For another round of prelims on Saturday, Jeff raced his way into the feature in his B-Main with a 10th-to-3rd charge. Starting the A-Main in 23rd, Taylor gained nine spots in the 25-lapper to finish 14th.
On Sunday, Taylor secured his spot into The Showdown finale with a runner-up finish in his heat. Despite suffering a flat tire on lap 13, Jeff tagged the tail of the field and went onto pass 18 cars in the remaining 27 laps, reeling in a sixth-place finish.
